When Chris started planning his surprise proposal to Kiki, he envisioned a golden Smoky Mountain sunset, a romantic pink heart-shaped floral arch, glowing candles, and a “Marry Me” sign setting the scene. Everything was thoughtfully planned—and we even worked with the amazing team at Flowerlet to bring the floral vision to life.
But the Smokies had other plans. As the day unfolded, so did a serious downpour. With quick thinking and a little bit of flexibility, we pivoted to an indoor location—and it turned out to be even more magical than we could’ve hoped. Emmajean’s Farmhouse at A King’s Lodge and Farm Venueoffered the perfect cozy, rustic space to keep the proposal intimate and full of charm.
Inside the farmhouse, Chris got down on one knee surrounded by flickering candles and lush blooms, and Kiki’s reaction was pure magic—tears, joy, and so much love. Even though the weather didn’t cooperate, the heart of the moment stayed just as meaningful (and beautiful!).
Then, in the sweetest twist of fate, the rain paused just in time for us to head outside. The clouds lifted enough to reveal a stunning mountain view, and we captured a few portraits in the soft, moody light before popping champagne to celebrate their new chapter together.
This proposal was the perfect reminder that even when the weather changes your plans, love always finds a way to shine through.
